Check your squad before making an offer
List your usual starting lineup and a replacement for the most vulnerable positions. Mark the players you rarely use and the roles where one absence would force a change of plan. This snapshot tells you what to seek: a starter, usable cover, role compatibility or credits where permitted.
Avoid a single ranking for every squad. In a larger league, replacing usable cover may be difficult. In a smaller league, there may be accessible alternatives. Only count alternatives you can actually acquire under your competition’s rules.
Worked case: turning surplus into cover
Fictional example: you have three forwards competing for two places and no reliable midfield alternative. Giving forward C for midfielder M could improve your coverage, even if C is the more sought-after player.
The assessment changes if another forward becomes unavailable. C was spare cover before that information; now you may need C in your lineup. The same offer therefore requires a different assessment. “It strengthens midfield” is incomplete unless you also check the problem it leaves elsewhere.
Choose the right tool
Use the evaluator for one proposal and the comparator for alternatives. If you do not yet have an offer, start with the evaluation method and then the negotiation guide.
A four-step process
- Define the need. “I lack midfield cover” is more useful than “I want to improve.”
- Identify what you can give up. Consider the lineup effect, not just whether a player is on the bench.
- Check the final squad. Review roles, slots, availability and replacements.
- Present the offer. Explain why it could also help the other participant.
Frequently asked questions
When can I make a trade?
Your league’s windows and settings determine that. Check any approval requirements before treating an agreement as completed.
Can I trade players from different positions?
Only if the format and squad restrictions allow it. Check the resulting squad, including position limits.
Does a trade need to improve every part of my squad?
No. It can involve a compromise. Decide whether the improvement justifies the loss while leaving a usable squad.
